Sometimes the problem is technical, but more often the obstacle is psychological: self-consciousness, over-intellectualization, emotional avoidance, perfectionism, or difficulty sustaining belief in the work itself. I help writers locate the real problem beneath the visible one. This is intensive, highly individualized work for writers undertaking ambitious projects who want rigorous editorial attention alongside a deeper investigation into what the manuscript is actually trying to become, and what may be preventing it from getting there.
